VMware NSX Still Need 3 Physical Server for Controller, just as Nicira did?

VMware NSX Still Need 3 Physical Server for Controller, just as Nicira did?  If so, is there any plan for VM based Controller?

When can we get the trail version for NSX? Can't wait to try that
