This option has seemed to have gone missing. Today after months of no problems I could not start my VMWare because of some 'Guard' option on Windows. I guess a Windows update turned on HyperV. So after turning that off everything boots fine but it dawns on my I can't seem to find how or where to take a snapshot. Does something have to be enabled? But it was.
For some reason as well it says non commercial use -- anyone know if that could be it, I HAVE a license not sure why it's not seeing it

hi, sorry for such a simple question, but I am stuck. During the install, it did ask me to pick a root password, but I do not remmember it asking for and admin password (as the docs suggest). now i cannot login to the gui.
is there a default password for admin? or is there a way to set it if I know the root password?

I have a vCenter Server 6.7 Virtual Appliance running within my environment. It is currently on build 6.7.0.10000. I am trying to install the vCenter Server 6.7.0d patch (Build 9451876). It looked like it was going fine. I checked back a few hours later as the system indicated vCenter will be unavailable for 91 minutes while it performed the upgrade. When I got back, it appeared as if it did not patch based on checking the CPU performance. I tried to manually install the patch by mounting the patch as an ISO to the appliance and executing the "software-packages --stage iso" and "software-packages install --stage" commands. When it runs the install, it says:

If I try to rerun the iso directly from the appliance web url, It shows the error "Update installation failed, vCenter is non-operational" at the backup vCenter Server Stage.
I tried using any of the previous builds of vCenter Server appliance 6.7 with the same result.
I also tried rebooting the appliance.
Note: I am able to login to vCenter Server and manage the environment with no issues. The only thing that appears to be having some issues is applying updates to the appliance.
I downloaded the support bundle but do not know where in the bundle the logs are located. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Has anyone tested using NSX OSPF routing in conjunction with EIGRP and route redistribution in this scenario?
My main routing protocol is cisco EIGRP but I use NSX at the virtualization core and I want to know if these work well together (mainly I mean the redistribution is supported by NSX or not and does this senario works well or not)

I am wondering if I can take a base layer and possibly make it an ISO to burn to a bootable usb. I need to image a computer off the net sometime and would like to use the base layer in mirage.
So after many years I have built a new 6.7 machine to replace my 4.1 host, I now need to migrate my VM's to the new host.
But SCP on 4.1 won't connect with error "No matching KexAlgo"
I have come across it before on some old distros but can't find how to fix it on vSphere???
Anyone got the solution?

Assuming that VMs are powered on and reside on a datastore within a datastore cluster, can you remove the datastore from said cluster?
I am not a developer. But I have written a decent amout of stuff in C# so I at least have a clue.
I need to write some stuff that access the PerformanceManager from the API to look at some specific disk stats.
I have gone through all the documentation I could find and I'm fairly certain the my environment is set up right. The problem I'm running into is when building sample code I get the error 'The Type or Namespace "VimPortType" could not be found'.
From what I can tell it's that type comes from the vim.wsdl file and should be added into the vim25service.dll file when you build it as part of the setup. (According to the Developer Setup Guide) There is a reference to it in the vim.wsdl file but nothing in the vim25API module that is packaged inside the vim25service.dll.
I suspect I'm missing something glaringly basic here and was hoping somebody could help me out please?

Basically I do not want to have users checking and changing their browser and regions settings to get vRA portal in English.

We were wondering if it is possible to boot from our client CD Drive when installing a OS to a VM in the esxi 6.7 web interface.
We haven't had any problems booting from the host's CD Drive & datastore, however I have been trying to look for an option to boot from my PCs cd drive and haven't found anything. We thought this was possible in Esxi 6.7, just like the older vsphere client program.
If not possible - does anyone know of a way to work esxi 6.7 from vpshere client and not the new web interface?

need to protect the contents of a VM which will be constantly running either on my own PC or amazon AWS or hertzner dedicated server..... we are still selecting among these 3.... I wonder how can I protect the access to an open and running vm? is there a vm password - or can I protect the contents of vm via a Bitlocker working in vim? I need to run vim and be sure it cannot be accessed by anyone (even if they wanted this very much). can this be done?

I use App Volumes, and if your not aware the software stores applications in a vmdk file that is attached to the virtual machines, and using the horizon agent that deploys the applications to that virtual machine. The default vmdk is a thinly provisioned with a max size of 20gb, so alot of these don't really use that much space. To back these up I created a script using powercli to download them to cifs share and that gets backed up in our backup system. The "issue" is when they are downloaded they are a full 20gb, and I'm not sure how to shrink them outside of when they are in esxi, if its even possible. Currently the disk share size is 2.7TB, but the storage volume thats connected to does compress it down to around 500gb, so most of that is freespace. I'd like to try and lower the space that the windows file server sees if possible.

I'm running Windows with VMWare Fusion 8 on a Macbook Pro with High Sierra. Sometimes the virtual machine is very slow to restart
after suspending. I don't know why. It can take up to five minutes or more. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?
In this day and age, waiting 5 minutes or so seems rather excessive.

We are new to ESXi & VCSA. ESXi hosts are prepared using customized Cisco image (ESXi-6.7.0-8169922). VCSA is running with 6.7.0.13000 / 9232925. VCSA license is valid till Feb next year and it's a temp license till we purchase the valid one, so it's not covered under support.
We are looking for ways to update both ESXi & VCSA, since we are facing some difficulties with Proxy we are looking for multiple options (through proxy & w/o proxy) to install the security / bug fixes.
