remove cloud extension key for vcenter managed vms
When I execute this cmd
Get-VM |select Name,@{N='Extensionkey';E={$_.ExtensionData.Config.ManagedBy.ExtensionKey}}
Output:
Name Extensionkey
---- ------------
TestVM vCloud Director-1
I got few vms which have extensionkey as vCloud Director-1 but they are no where managed by vcloud so how I can remove that extension key using powercli.

Orchestrator 7.6 Performance Issue without Administrator Permissions
Hello,
we use the Orchestrator 7.6 for VM-Provisioning and other activities. Some workflows need the REST-API and other the Web-Gui to start the workflows.
The strange problem is, if you are not in the Active-Directory-Group, which is the Administrator-Group, you need to wait about 5 minutes until you can see some Workflows in the GUI.If you want to execute a Workflow with REST-API you have to wait about 30-60 seconds until the "Execution" starts.
If you do the same activities with the "Administrator"-Permissions, you can see all workflows immediately, or if you start a workflow over the REST-API, you have no performance issue, or "Timeout".
May somebody else have a similar issue?
SSL issues on single node causing backup issues
Hello everyone,
We recently had a company install a new 3 node vSphere environment which initially seemed to go well. However I noticed that some Veeam jobs fail when the VM being backed up was on a specific ESXi node, but everything works fine on the other 2. Initially I thought this was a Veeam issue but digging into the Veeam logs i found the following error:
[04.07.2019 12:24:54] < 3040> vdl| WARN|[vddk] [NFC ERROR] NfcNewAuthdConnectionEx: Failed to connect: The remote host certificate has these problems:
[04.07.2019 12:24:54] < 3040> vdl| WARN|[vddk]
[04.07.2019 12:24:54] < 3040> vdl| WARN|[vddk] * A certificate in the host's chain is based on an untrusted root.
Which pointed me towards the issue being with the ESXi server. I dug into the /var/log/vmauthd.log log on the ESXi server that is effected and found the following.
2019-07-08T13:47:44Z vmauthd[2108903]: lib/ssl: OpenSSL using FIPS_drbg for RAND

2019-07-08T13:47:44Z vmauthd[2108903]: Read failed.
Which looks like there is an issue with the certificate authority on the effected host, which would tie in nicely with the error i am seeing in Veeam. So then I compared the CA on one of the working nodes with the non-working one with this command
openssl crl2pkcs7 -nocrl -certfile /etc/vmware/ssl/castore.pem | openssl pkcs7 -print_certs -noout
Working ESXi node
subject=/CN=CA/DC=vsphere/DC=local/C=US/ST=California/O=DWLAN-VCA01.brand.local/OU=VMware Engineering
issuer=/CN=CA/DC=vsphere/DC=local/C=US/ST=California/O=DWLAN-VCA01.brand.local/OU=VMware Engineering
subject=/O=VMware/CN=SMS-190614111842368
issuer=/O=VMware/CN=SMS-190614111842368
Non-working ESXi node
subject=/CN=CA/DC=vsphere/DC=local/C=US/ST=California/O=DWLAN-VCA01.brand.local/OU=VMware Engineering
issuer=/CN=CA/DC=vsphere/DC=local/C=US/ST=California/O=DWLAN-VCA01.brand.local/OU=VMware Engineering
subject=/O=VMware/CN=SMS-190614111842368
issuer=/O=VMware/CN=SMS-190614111842368
And they are identical. I'm not sure how to move forward from here. Can anyone help at all?
Thanks in advance. Frank

Vielen Dank
Domenik
Correlation of Virtualization with Graphics Processor and Optane Memory
Hi,
I recently visited local stores for purchasing a new laptop. I am not a gamer. I have to purchase a laptop with good configuration so that I can run 3-4 virtual machines (Windows 10 & Windows Server 2016) on VMware Workstation. That’s why, I planned for a laptop with i5 8th Gen (i5-8250U), 4GB AMD Graphics and 16GB RAM but because of Optane memory concept, I got confused. I read some articles for Optane memory.
i5-8250U supports Optane Memory, Speed Shift Technology, Hyper-Threading Technology, Virtualization Technology (VT-x), Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d) and VT-x with Extended Page Tables.
However, at the end, I am still confused because of correlation of Optane Memory with Graphics Processor for virtualization process.
How Optane memory concept is helpful for my requirement and
On the behalf of Optane memory should I compromise with Graphics processor and RAM?
Pls guide me.
Thanks in advance.

Clone VM workflows - clusters instead of hosts
The clone VM workflows all take Host/Datastore arguments for where the clone should be created. Is it possible to point to a cluster instead where it will be autobalanced? I would like to avoid having a "build host" if at all possible.

Update manager gui not working in 6.7
I have a domain group called "VMware admins" that is a member of the VMware predefined group "Administrators". If I log in with an AD account that is a member of that group i get the following error from update manager
However when i log in as administrator@vsphere.local it works fine. Another weird aspect of this is that if i log into the flash client using the domain account update manager also works normally?
Has anyone come across this before?
Thanks in advance
Frank

vRealize Orchestrator, clustering
Topic Name : Configure a Cluster of vRealize Orchestrator Instances in VAMI
Publication Name : Installing and Configuring VMware vRealize Orchestrator
Product/Version : vRealize Orchestrator/7.6
Question :
Hello! Last week i tried to set up 2 new vRealize Orchestrator in cluster mdoe, but every try after pressing "Join cluster", agreed with certificate an error applied to me after 59% with text "Command execution failed with unexpected error: com.vmware.vcac.configuration.utils.ProcessUtil$ProcessExecutionException: Can not read the Orchestrator pid from /var/lib/vco/app-server/logs/tomcat.pid pg_ctl: PID file "/var/vmware/vpostgres/current/pgdata/postmaster.pid" does not exist Is server running?." It's two clear Orchestrators, what's wrong?

Need to create a report of datastore active multipathways
Looking to create a quick and easy way to validate that we have multiple pathways to our datastores that we can use when we are updating our Cisco FC Directors or the Cisco FIs. We have a decent size environment spanned across two data centers and three vCenter servers.
I have looked at several scripts that look at the multipathing from a host-centric perspective where I would like to look at it from the datastore centric view. I would like to report from a vCenter server a list of datastores, by name not by naa identifier, then a list of servers that the datastore is mounted to, and then the active pathways for each HBA of the host for the datastore.
Thank you for the help in advance.

How to debug long entry: skipping out of range LUN
I mentioned it before but I would like to debug the log entries:
2019-07-02T00:59:22.763Z cpu6:2097433)WARNING: ScsiScan: 2391: Skipping out-of-range LUN vmhba0:C1:T0:L256 Max LUN ID configuredfor ESX is =1024

I don't know why vmware would be trying to access LUN IDs > 1024.
How can I debug this to figure out where this is originating?
Multi-site vRO configuration
I have multiple sites. Each site has dedicated vCenter and a dedicated SSO. Each site uses a vRO instance and uses its own SSO for authentication. I want to set up the multi-node plugin to manage workflows across all sites centrally.
How will a workflow created in my central site be able to have permissions to run on my remote sites? I am currently using "session per user" and not "share a unique session"
