vsphere-client couldn't be opened by web browser, even it can be opened by client application

[VMware Converter] Converting multi-partitioned vm

Hi,

 

We are trying to migrate vm using vmware converter.

We succeeded the migration of Windows 16 vm with single partition without a problem.

 

but is it possible to convert Windows 16 vm with multiple partitions?

I saw there is a limitation for this task but hard to understand fully.

 

Could you enlighten me on this task?

Mapping of AD UPN to support vCenter smart card authentication possible?

Hi,

 

we want to use smart card authentication in our vcenter. The problem we have, our PKI Infrastructure gives us user certificates (on the smart card) with Subject Alternative Name (SAN) extension principal name: firstname.lastname@domain1.com

 

Our vcenter is authenticating against an other Microsoft AD, the UPN there is : ad-loginname@ad-domain.com

 

So it will not work, because in documentation vcenter there is the requirement named:

A User Principal Name (UPN) must correspond to an Active Directory account in the Subject Alternative Name (SAN) extension.

 

So, how can we map this? firstname.lastname@domain1.com  = ad-loginname@ad-domain.com

When i execute the installer this problem come out:

I have tried to run the VMware-VIX-1.17.0-6661328.x86_64.bundle on my Ubuntu 18.04

because i need the vmrun path on gns3 to run the vmware workstation player 15 on it, for a device. please help.

Ghetto backup create thousands of files with extension vmBigFileTest

Hi,

I did the first experience with ghetto backup from an esx 5.5 to a qnap ts-231, connected as nfs, without any problems.

I changed the qnap with a TS-432XU and using the same ghetto script, only altering the VM_BACKUP_VOLUME parameter, the backup never seems to end (about 20 minutes before) and, on the destination folder, it creates thousands of files with extension vmBigFileTest.

What did I do wrong?

Collapsed Widgets

I have vROPS 6.6.1 running in a Horizon 7.8 envrionment.  I have the Horizon Adapter installed and talking to Horizon.

 

The issue I have is when I log into vROPS, all of the widgets in my dashboards are collapsed all the way to the left.  I have to expand them all so I can see the data.   Even after doing so, the next time i log into vROPS, they are all collapsed again.

 

Has anyone else seen this issue?

Snapshots und IO-Control

Hallo,

 

Wir betreiben hier an der Uni ein Praktikum wo Studenten per RDP auf VMs arbeiten.

Nachdem die Studenten die VM verlassen haben (oder gekickt) wurden, wird die VM auf einen definierten Snapshot zurückgesetzt und wieder zur Verfügung gestellt.

Das Ganze wird über Warteschlange und Website geregelt.

 

Damit keine Überlastung des Storage eintritt, haben wir die IO-Control aktiviert und den VMs Speicherprofile verpasst.

Da wir keine Erfahrung damit haben, haben wir einige Tests gefahren um vernünftige Werte zu finden.

 

Leider haben wir es nicht geschafft das Storage vor Überlast zu schützen.

Uns ist aufgefallen, dass egal welche Werte wir nehmen, das Storage beim Zurücksetzen der Snapshots überlastet wird.

 

Wir haben nun den Verdacht, dass die IO-Control entweder bei uns falsch konfiguriert ist, oder aber, dass die Speicherprofile beim Zurücksetzten ignoriert werden.

Leider habe ich irgendwie nichts passendes für dieses Problem gefunden.

 

Weiß hier vielleicht jemand, ob die Speicherprofile beim Zurücksetzten von Snapshots möglicherweise ignoriert werden?

Oder hat sogar eine Lösung dafür?

Datastore Name & Multipath Policy Report

Hello everyone,

 

I need to generate a report on all datastores in the VCenter that shows whether they are in Fixed \ Most Recently Used \ Round Robin multi path policy configuration.

 

How can I print the Datastore name as it appears in vsphere alongside the multipath policy?

  2. for each (var lun in lunits) {

  4. }

Unable to log into host

Hi All,

 

We recently just purchased a Dell VRTX server. It has 2 PowerEdge M640s with a Dells CMC and idrac. Came with VMware ESXI 6.7 update 3. Both blades have 2 SSDs and a preinstalled SD card.When you first power on the chassis it has you go through the setting IP process for the CMC and 2 Idracs.  Then states it will add the next 2 in line IP addresses in the scope to the blades. When I powered on the server initially it showed both blades online and a messaged from Dell stating that my root password on both servers is my Dell service tag. Logged into both just fine. Rebooted them both and shut down via that service tag password. Upon connecting the chassis to my network my ability to log into the host was not longer there. It would no longer take my root password. When I hit f2 its showing localhost.domain.local. I know initial it just showed local host. The web interface and console will not take the root login. I shutdown entire chassis, removed from my network, and rebooted with same results. It seems like once I added plugged the server into my local network I can not longer get in.

hello, i am capturing a windows Macro automation app that uses keyboard, mouse 'triggers' to run script (open notepad, launch Firefox, move resize windows, etc)

 

when installing this app (QuickMacro) i ran into this error, "a new kernelmode componenent "QM process triggers" was installed, this is not supported by ThinApp"

 

i am able to capture and launch the software after capture BUT the app is useless unless i can trigger these scripts.

 

 

is there a way around this, how can i fix this???  thank you!

Unable to restore VCenter: Reconciliation Job Failed

I am trying to restore the backup of a VCenter (it's the main VCenter with another Linked mode available).

 

The process ends with errors during reconciliation job, and I cannot restore it. I was force to deploy from the beginning.

I was able to restore the same VCenter (but using an older backup) 15 days in advance.Today, the same backup is not restoring anymore.

 

Attached the log from reconciliation job failing.

 

Any ideas to avoid this in the future?

Load balancing and Blast Secure Gateway

Hi guys,

 

I am still quite new in the VMware Horizon world but learning fast. :-)

 

If I want to use the Blast Secure Gateway (are there downsides?), do I configure the individual "real servers" (each Connection server to it's own Blast Secure Gateway), or do I need to configure the load balancer here.

 

For now I have the Blast Secure Gateway turned off.

New Applocker/Application Control version on Windows Desktop

I have a functionally Application Control policy configured with a xml configuration file.

There are some path and hash exceptions. The policy is working well.

 

Now I have a have to modify this file with a new one.

 

I'm unable to deploy the updated policy to my Windows 10 Desktops.

The old policy remain active on the desktops and on Airwatch i have an event on the devide saying: "Install Profile Failed".

 

Airwatch or Windows is unable to overwrite the old Applocker configuration with the new one.

 

Some idea?

update vsphere 6.0 (custom hp image) to 6.0u3

Hi users,

I should update a vsphere HP proliant 460 blade host, 6.0 installed with hp custom image: Build 6765062.

 

 

The latest hp custom image I found on vmware website is ESXi 6.0 Update 3, HPE Custom Image for VMware ESXi 6.0 U3 Install CD.

VMware-ESXi-6.0.0-Update3-13635687-HPE-Gen9plus-600.10.4.5.15-Sep2019.iso    Release Date: 2019-09-09

 

on the same page I found also offline bundle

Question before update:

Is it correct that I can proceed in two ways?:

 

1) shut down all VMs, Enter in mantenace mode, restart host with boot 6.0U3 boot CD and follow istruction.

or

2) shut down all VMs, Enter in mantenace mode, copy VMware-ESXi-6.0.0-Update3-13635687-HPE-Gen9plus-600.10.4.5.15-Sep2019-depot.zip on a folder in datastore, and then launch command:  esxcli software vib install -d /vmfs/volumes/MyDatastoreID/patchrepository/VMware-ESXi-6.0.0-Update3-13635687-HPE-Gen9plus-600.10.4.5.15-Sep2019-depot.zip

 

I would point to second way because on proliant blade I should attach a virtual image or burn a CD.

Is it correct?

 

ps: Then, could I apply the latest VMware patch ESXi600-202002001 build  15517548  released on february 2020, even if hypervisor is HP customized?

Or do I have to waith an hp patch?

Duda puerto vsphere

Buenos días.

Soy Javier, nuevo en el foro, primer mensaje.

Gracias de antemano a todos los miembros del foro.

 

Duda a ver si alguien puede indicarme ya que estoy empezando con vmware.

 

Tengo una ESXi montado en 192.168.1.3 y accedo al host client perfectamente a traves de http://192.168.1.3 por el puerto 80

Tengo un vCenter montado en 192.168.1.4 y accedo a la pagina de inicio para acceder a Vsphere Web Clien y Vsphere Client por el puerto 80 y 8080

Accedo a Vsphere Web client por 192.168.1.4:9443

 

Todo correcto pero no encuentro el puerto para acceder a Vsphere Client (html), reviso la dumentación pero siempre accedo al Vsphere Web Client (flash)

 

Podríais decirme que puerto usa??????
