Добрый день. Есть vcenter 5.5, в нем VM с win2012r2 на ней крутится сервер eset. Нужно ее скопировать на другой цод, там vcsa 6.7, если это важно. В eset есть маркер сервере, мне нужно чтобы он не изменился. Не могу понять с чего именно он формируется, думаю лучше сделать полный клон этой виртуалки с сохранением всех возможных id, sid, mac и т.д.
Как лучше это сделать? Просто экспортом в ovf или лучше скопировать ее с датастора? Или vcenter converter?

Is there a better way to find out which user created a VM without using the VM events? We are running vCenter 6.7 and would like to gather this information regardless of guest OS. I'm hoping for something similar to the new ExtensionData.Config.createDate property.
Any help would be appreciated.
A particular user with the roles "Organisation member", "Project member", "Service Broker User" fails to successfully deploy a catalog item.
In Step-6 (Machine Provisioning) the user gets the error: "Create Failed: IllegalAccessError: forbidden"
When i add the role "Service broker viewer" to this user, he is able to deploy the catalog item successful.
But this makes no sense to me. With the role "Service broker viewer", the user gets to many menu items in his console.
Any ideas for a solution?

We have a vSphere 5 Enterprise Plus (unlimited cores per CPU) - 6 CPUs license key for ESXi, however, vCenter server was down in last couple week and we have to reinstall the OS. However the vCenter show that we "overused" CPU (attached in 1a.jpg) in licensing, so how can I remove the 'unknown' host (attached in 2a.jpg and 3a.jpg) from the web client? Also, in current vCenter setting, the system show 3 servers in the list and actually we only have 2 servers (in 4a.jpg), will it be the same issue?
more background:
1. we have 3 ESXi server, each server has 2 CPUs, therefor the license / key should not exceed the limitation.
2. this vcenter server is linked to another vCenter server in other site.
3. when i click on those 'unknown' host (in 3a.jpg), the system said cannot connect to inventory and cannot retrieve the info.

I want to monitor our VCSA VM and get the usual metrics: cpu, ram, and disk usage and I plan to do that with collectd.
I have a SNMP server (ubuntu VM) where collectd is running.
First I was thinking of polling these metrics with the SNMP plugin of collectd after configuring the SNMP agent on VCSA. But then I realized that it might be a complicated to get disk and ram usage since I have to do some additional calculation.
Then I thought why not just install collectd directly in the VCSA's OS?
This way, I don't need to do extra calculation, i can use the df or memory plugin and transmit data to the collectd agent running on the SNMP server.
So basically my question is: do you know if it's possible to install collectd on VCSA 6.0 and 6.5?

As I understand it the events get rolled up into zip files and I want to be able to get a LOT of events (when powered off) on over 100 vm's. The get-VIEvent will only parse the initial file if I understand correctly, so if I know where the files are and their names I can possibly work around this limitation. What I get returned is only about a month old.

I'm working on virtualizing PSICapture in 2.18 appstacks. PSICapture has a service called Capture Services that is configured for Automatic Start. I'm having a difficult time doing so.
Symptom:
In both new AppVol and in Updated AppVol when the AppVol is assigned, the Capture Services service isn't Started when a user logs in.
In other new AppVols and Updated AppVols the service will be started when the user logs in.
I have not seen in logs where the Service is even attempted to be started after attachment. So, it doesn't appear that AppVol Agent thinks it needs to start the service after registering it.
Behavior Summary:
All capture steps are the same between scenarios.
Is there a way to manually edit the AppVol and force the agent to start the service? Or someplace else to check?
In the future I'll need to upgrade all my server 2016 to server 2019. What would be the best way to go about doing this? Either I would do an in-place upgrade or backup the data create a new VM w/ server 2019 and then add the data back to it?
How are are the "pros" achieving this?

We have started to use the vCenter appliance now instead of the windows version. For the Windows install we used to monitor the VMware services and if the vpxd.exe service stopped it would raise an alert.
What are people in regards to monitoring the appliance to ensure its running without any issues?

I am struggling to get my head round the networking for a nested environment.
I am seeing duplicate (DUP) packets when I PING between some nested VM's and I can see from ESXTOP ton my physical hosts that all my nested ESXi host VM's are getting the same traffic?
Here is my setup (apologies in advance).
Physical Lab
2 Physical ESXi Hosts (LAB-P-ESXI01 & 02) running version 6.7 U3 (b14320388).Each Host has 2 x 10Gb NICs, connected to a Cisco 10Gb Switch. All switch ports trunk/tag all VLANs. Static IP routing between VLANs in the switch.
1 Windows AD, DNS, DHCP Server (Used by both the physical and nested lab environments) – (LAB-V-MSAD01)

I know the MAC Learning is native in vSphere 6.7, so that I no longer need to install the “ESXi Mac Learning dvFilter” Fling, but I am not clear on exactly on what else I need to do?
I see that William Lam also created a couple of PowerCLI functions (Get-MacLearn & Set-MacLearn), but on which vDS/Port Groups do I enable MAC Learning? The “Lab” or the “Nested-Lab” or both?
And once I have enabled MAC Learning on the correct vDS/PG, do I need to change the 'legacy' Security settings on either of the “Lab” or the “Nested-Lab” vDS/PGs?
If I upgrade the Nested Lab environment to vSphere 7, does anything change? (I cannot upgrade the physical ESXi hosts to v7.0, as I run SanDisk FusioIO PCIe Flash storage; which does not work with v7.0).

I have a user who can't send shift + f3 into teraterm app in horizon view vdi session. I didn't see anything in a document showing how to resolve this or workarounds so I am reaching out to the community here. Any comments are greatly appreciated.
When I create a business policy rule it works fine with Application Type or IP. When I enter a domain name like workspaceoneaccess.com it does not work.
DNS resolution works.
Any ideas?
I had to reinstall Fusion 11 and now I can't install Windows from the iso file.
I can only go as far as "save the virtual machine" then I get the following messages (in that order):
- Could not open /dev/vmmon: Broken pipe
- Failed to initialize monitor device
- Transport (VMDB) error -14: Pipe connection has been broken

I'm new to vRA 8.1, and I'm pretty happy of lots of things improved !
But while trying to reproduce my Blueprint and its Custom Form from vRA 7.5 to vRA 8.1, I'm struggling with something that was not difficult previously.
I need to fill a dropdown list with a REST API call from an external vRO action.
The REST Host was successfully added in vRO (this is one of the inputs for this action and it's working fine).
I need two others inputs to filter the content of the list that I'll display on form:
- environment of blueprint (easy as I added it in the inputs section of the Blueprint, I just select it in Fields)
- the group that is granted to acces only some items in the original list and here is my problem...
This group should be different for each project as projects replace Business Groups.
So I set a custom property in my project with one of the possible values, but I'm struggling retrieving this property in the custom form designer or inside my vRO external action.
In vRA 7.5, I was passing the Business Group name to my vRO external action and then used the action System.getModule("com.vmware.library.vcaccafe.subtenant").getCustomPropertyNames(subtenant) to retrieve all properties of the BG and then retrieve my property value.
But now it's just becoming a nightmare on the vRO side...
I found this action that I could use: com.vmware.library.customProperties.getCustomProperty but its input is object type and I don't see any trace of method somewhere to get my project in the API so how can achieve that ????!!
I was curious enough to find something in API and did a test using Server.getObjectsWithCustomPropertyKey(myCustomProperty) and it return an empty object
Please help me I'm getting very confused

In VRA 7.5, we have created custom actions at the deployment level. For example, in addition to the out of the box Change Lease action for a deployment, we have added a Change Lease Time action which lets users specify a lease time in hours from the current point in time. This Change Lease Time action is a VRO workflow in the background. How can we add custom actions to a deployment that will affect the overall deployment. It seems like the Resource Actions in VRA 8.1 only apply to individual components within the deployment instead.

Since Fusion 12 can now run without kernel extensions, are there any plans to bring it to the Mac App Store anytime soon (at least the free Player version)?
After upgrading to IOS 14 on my phone, the VDI client on the phone cannot launch my sessions anymore?
Is this a known bug ?
